This wine is rancio-driven. The batch comes from a passionate winemaker who worked vines on a rocky promontory close to Segonzac, in the heart of a famous Charentais (Grande Champagne area) appellation. After lengthy lees ageing in small barrels and casks, it arrived at the Chermignac cellars in 2019, shortly after the accidental death of its producer. It is a sumptuous wine, which has aged a minimum of 25 years in oak casks.
Intense amber in colour with toasty, black chocolate, prune and undergrowth aromas. The extremely dense thick palate has a delicate sweetness, nice acidity and spicy warm notes of prune and sugar candy.
