Nestled at the foot of the centuries-old Beaune ramparts in Burgundy, Domaine Françoise André's journey began in 1983 when Michel and Françoise André acquired vines from Savigny les Beaune 1er cru "Les Vergelesses." This marked the start of a captivating adventure that led to the acquisition of vines from prestigious terroirs, encompassing the famous hill of Corton, totalling 11 hectares today.
Now steering the estate is daughter-in-law Lauriane André, with Jerome Després by her side. Together they uphold the vision: crafting wines of finesse and elegance through meticulous vineyard work and a gentle cellar touch. Committed to organic vine cultivation, the estate flourishes with practices centred on observation, prevention, and respect for natural balances. Embracing minimal intervention in the winery, Lauriane and Jerome advocate for the belief that each cuvée should allow the terroir to speak, resulting in expressive, intricate wines that authentically mirror the character of the Cote de Beaune.
Pinot Noir grapes are crushed and partially destemmed; punch-down and a relatively short skin maceration of fifteen days are done with deliberate moderation to preserve the terroir of the appellation. Preferring to make their “corrections” in the vineyard, absolutely nothing is added during fermentation or elevage except a small addition of sulfur at bottling.
'Just started their first year of organic conversion in this vintage. 1.20 ha.
There’s width of aroma but here is more about the higher and lower tones – forward and inviting. Ooh – that’s really super in the mouth – framed with a little tannin but with sweeping, fresh silky texture. Extra vibrant finishing. A great Savigny!' - Burgundy Report
