Tasting notes:
Nose: The body type is light to medium. The aromas are very delicate, reminiscent of apricot or orange marmalade, but not really fruity; orange peel, Chardonnay, then cotton candy, almonds, barley, a little wood.
Palate: The palate starts off less fruity, with more barley sugar, salt, and dry aromas reminiscent of a Fino, exhibiting more intensity and power compared to the nose. I also detect a hint of peatiness, but not smokiness. The range of possibilities is quite broad: Bruichladdich, Daftmill, Glen Grant, Jura, Arran, NC'nean, Scapa, or Tobermory – I'd guess along those lines, perhaps even a Compass Box.
Finish: The mouthfeel is dry, astringent, somewhat stormy, and more alcoholic.
The finish is almost long, but also a little alcoholic. It mixes well with water without becoming too bitter or thin. I'd guess around 50-52% ABV and a batch from younger casks, between 6 and 10 years old. Not a single cask.
